Sept 1st & 2nd

“What an old man can see while seated, a young boy can’t see while standing on the tallest hill.” My father kept on iterating this Meru proverb from time to time in his lifetime. Wisdom comes with experience, failure with every attempt of chasing that goal until eventually you learn ways of finally achieving success. The odds may seem stacked against each and every single one of us, and most times they are. Where most give up, the few are kept by the allure that success is just one failure away. Mile by mile, inch by inch, people fight tooth and nail with the hope that breaking certain accolades will bring some fulfillment to them.

Do you believe in fate and destiny? Faith that something is destined to happen and belief that, despite the uncertain chronological order of events, the outcome might be something unearthly, more pleasant and rewarding. Murphy’s Law states that “If it can happen, it will happen.” This phrase puts emphasis on living your life and enjoying each moment, for any outcome might actually occur. The possibilities are endless.  A belief that exists in a large number of mundane beings is that there has to be a certain order of how all our paths should end - every story has an ending. The belief lies faith on the existence of fate and destiny. Fate suggests that certain events are unavoidable and beyond one’s control, while destiny can be influenced by one’s choices and efforts, resulting in a specific or often positive goal. I certainly am an advocate for everyone being or having at least some power or control over their fate. “You are the beholder of your fate”. This pushes the notion that each and every one of us has control and power to shape our own future and outcomes, rather than being a passive observer of a predetermined destiny.

Every challenge you face is a story waiting to be told. The problems of today will be the successes of tomorrow. Every setback, whether minor or major, builds you in ways you cannot fathom until you’re old and grey. We come unto this earth to search, explore, and conquer. Each day is a day of learning different amount of things. The more we explore, the more we get creative and find ways to build our own innovations. We have a vast majority of figures in history, literally case studies giving us a blueprint on how they lived their lives and what they actually built in their lifetime. Da Vinci, Shakespeare, M.L. King, and even Kobe Bryant all left their documented lives to act as a canvas where all of us can take a gaze, ponder, and then eventually learn from them. We all have limited time, and it would be a shame to waste that time stressing about the lack of certain things. Life is for the living, and I refuse to not live it to the best of my ability.

“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be” – Lao Tzu.
